SEMANA SANTA – EASTER IN MELAQUE 2012

Semana Santa (Holy Week) is an important religious holiday in Mexico and will be soon underway in San Patricio-Melaque.  This year it begins on Palm Sunday (April 1st) and continues through Easter Sunday (April 8th).  The hotels and beaches will fill up with Mexican “Spring Break” vacationers anxious to enjoy a good time.  Plaza San Patricio is filled to the brim each night and full of life and sounds.  This is a perfect time to enjoy the excitement and experience México’s diverse culture up close.  However, be prepared for the downbeat side of large crowds; scarce accommodations, packed restaurants and private nightly fiestas running into the early morning hours with loud music making sleep almost impossible.  Also stay alert for speeding ATV’s and scooters, drinking drivers and thieves ready to take advantage of those in a relaxed holiday spirit.  Everyone should enjoy at least one Semana Santa experience.
