One of the delicious pleasures of visiting old Mexico is tasting the pollo asado right off the outdoor grill! Unlike anywhere else in the world, eating pollo asado or grilled chicken is a interesting and positively scrumptious experience. Throughout the Coste Allegre any of the small to medium size towns have one or more of these stands. At these outdoor grills you can purchase a yummy chicken dinner with all the fixings for under 100 pesos. In Canadian currency that’s just under ten dollars. In European currency the cost is an amazing 5.50 Euros.
Among the many pollo asado stands in the area there is one however that stands out. That one is Moses’s place in Melaque! We visited it many times and each time we indulged in the excellently prepared chicken or ribs we were never disappointed.
I don’t know what’s in the marinade (that’s a closely guarded family recipe) but it’s tasty and it makes the meat incredibly succulent and tender. To round out the meal, Moses always includes a generous portion of roasted potatoes or papas, rice, hot sauce and bread. Because he has a small seating area Moses is able to cater to both eat in and take out orders.
Great food, a wonderful host and chicken and ribs that are melt in your mouth delicious truly provides an old Mexico experience. While you are in the area plan a visit to Moses Pollo Asado stand in Melaque. His stand is located directly opposite the Hacienda Melaque Hotel and kitty corner to the La Herradura grocery store.
In addition to chicken, Moses will grill both beef and pork ribs as well. Visit his grill and you won’t be disappointed! Eating pollo asado has become a wonderful Mexican tradition for me. I was delighted to find Moses Place, and I know that you will be too.
